Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The LSUA IRB is charged with reviewing all proposed research planning to use LSUA students, faculty, or staff as participants for ethical considerations and research proposed by LSUA faculty or student that intends to use participants from other sources (organizations or entities in the community) as participants. Ethical considerations includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that the procedures employed in the research do not endanger any individual physically, psychologically or in any other way if they agree to participate. The LSUA IRB is also charged with approving any nonhuman (animal) research that is conducted by LSUA students or faculty.

If the proposed research is being conducted in conjunction with another university (student or faculty working on a degree at another college or university) or entity (organization or enterprise) the individual wanting to conduct the research will still need to complete an IRB Application Form and provide copies of the approved IRB from the other institution of higher education, organization or entity involved. If an organization or entity does not have an IRB, a letter from the organization indicating that the individual wanting to conduct the research has discussed the research project with the organization or entity and that the organization or entity is in full agreement to allow the individual to conduct the research must be included with the application form.
